Thursday, February 12, 2009 - New York Update - 2:08 PM EST Fear is gripping this market after record unemployment claims and a one-off jump in retails sales sparked by unsustainable post-Holiday sales. Congress is expected to pass the $789B economic stimulus bill tomorrow, but doubts are high that this second economic stimulus package will be enough to stabilize the housing market and stimulate consumer spending. The S&P finally broke that 825 level today with a decent amount of conviction and sparked risk aversion dollar buying. I have to admit the though, I have had very little luck getting long dollars as the market is more jittery than an investment bank CEO testifying in front on Congress. 5 d3 W9 S1 W4 D5 F" W1 [+ k' {; V
B7 V! \6 m) qEURUSD tried to get through the trendline originating in late October, but was stuffed as buyers came to market at around 10:30 PM EST. It was at this time the S&P was retesting the huge 825 level from the underside as resistance. Once the S&P's rolled back over from 825, the dollar took it as the cue to breakout and EURUSD collapsed.

, A' z6 K- e# w! _As I type , EURUSD is trading 1.2770, just 20 points above the 1.2750 level. A 5:00 PM EST close below 1.2750 will likely bring additional selling interest down to around 1.2600 in the overnight session.

I am a 1.2820 seller with 1.2850 stops against an initial take profit at 1.2705, OCO. If the 1.2705 is filled, I will trail the stop to 1.2800 and let the position work. Back tomorrow. |
