So, what wrong with us learning? The reason that caused communication difficulties is we did not use the common English in our spoken English. We should study English vocabulary but we should choose what would benefit for your communication.

) O9 W# f1 Y; G6 Q     We are Chinese immigrant with limited time to learn English as our second language. Within this limited time, we should pick up the high frequency vocabulary that related to our life and work. I always heard people saying: until my English is good enough, I will go to looking for a job as an engineer or a technician. Honestly, I treat this saying as an excuse of unconfident (I ever had this kind of excuses too). : l' O) r3 D0 e/ N; t# H, X

1 O, O5 P7 x# \5 P   One example from my husband: he works as an industrial engineer in GE for 3 years (since we moved to Edmonton). They serve all the global customers who use GE productions and one part of his job is solving the technical problems over the phone. I can say my husband is very good at his professional terms and vocabulary in his major field, so he got no troubles with his job. However, when he got home and to watch TV or read newspaper, he couldn’t exceed me. Why? Because I spend too much time as a couch potato and I picked up lots of oral language that used more often by local person. Also, the main job of my graduate courses is discussing all kinds of topics about Education. We have the different focus of our learning in English.
