Reporting to the Managing Director of Industry Development, the Finance, Insurance and Real Estate Services Manager will facilitate and accelerate industry growth and diversification, competitiveness and identify attraction opportunities. The job will be accomplished in cooperation with the private and public sector.* e8 K: L$ C& R! W# T( n
The first priority will be to develop and implement a strategy to grow Edmonton Financial Services sector by increasing venture capital, foreign investment and attract asset management firms.9 m! ^& o# t- `) o- G3 |1 Q
The manager will champion industry concerns and needs within EEDC and provide recommendations on policy/programs impacting development in the sector.
2 ^) ^* K: V" R. _ D* z% q# PMajor accountabilities include:
" S' x" ?! L$ ]- I• Develop and manage key projects and initiatives in support of EEDC’s strategic plan.
8 m, [7 p8 _/ ]& ~/ J! Q• Prepare a budget and operational plan that is consistent with the corporate strategic plan.$ h l( A1 b/ H1 ]
• Work with internal and external stakeholders in the development of the Finance Insurance and Real Estate Sector.
8 ] R3 O3 s' e1 `0 h+ g4 A• Advocate on behalf of companies/industries to reduce or limit impediments to growth and expansion.5 E* b! z) b7 h6 R+ V( W
• Work with EEDC staff to identify and develop investment, business and labor attraction opportunities.

+ \ \$ {) q6 B* X• Post secondary degree in commerce or economics with 5 or more years of financial services experience.9 T" Q5 O0 V4 q' `5 b/ U$ m1 c: c

• Strategic planning, budgeting and operational planning skills
