The University of Alberta invites applications for the position of Employment Equity Advisor. Reporting to the Director, Employment Services, you will update, develop and facilitate implementation of the University of Alberta's employment equity plan and related initiatives. This includes monitoring and tracking employment equity statistics and University employment policies and procedures to ensure the University of Alberta follows human rights and employment equity legislation. The University of Alberta is a signatory to the Federal Contractors' Program. The objective of the FCP and the federal Employment Equity Act is to improve representational equity for four groups identified as being disadvantaged in employment: women, Aboriginal peoples, members of visible minorities, and persons with disabilities. The Employment Equity Advisor is integral to the institution's ongoing commitment and participation in the FCP. In addition, the Employment Equity Program is an important component of the University's goal of maintaining a respectful and inclusive work, study and living environment., _4 y- r2 ^$ G% [, G3 i& y0 t
$ `9 y( V+ C. g4 aSpecific responsibilities include consulting with constituent groups across the institution to propose, develop, write, and subsequently update the University of Alberta's Equity Plan. The successful 8 x1 s# s6 `/ `* T6 w5 r
incumbent will also be responsible for facilitating the implementation of the approved plan which involves developing a communications plan; delivering training and education courses and assisting individual units as required. This position responds to internal and external requests for statistical information by providing the required statistical data and narrative explanations, as appropriate and - |" K; \* r, a; o/ [' j' z( M* p
preparing reports and other communications regarding the University's progress toward fulfillment of the employment equity plan to ensure compliance to the FCP. The successful candidate will also contribute

0 ]8 ~/ @. [8 D/ H$ _! `5 C- G& EA related undergraduate degree anda working knowledge of employment equity Knowledge of federal and provincial employment equity and human rights legislation, the Federal Contractors Program, and Canadian 7 u- m6 d9 G8 B, u& H7 E, p
jurisprudence in the area of human rights Experience consulting and advising with constituent groups as well as demonstrated facilitation skills including collective problem solving Demonstrated capacity to work within a collaborative framework with individuals or groups from other areas of expertise, including senior administrators, faculty, students and the community as a whole Superior communications skills in the areas of oral, written, interpersonal, active listening, and presentations Proficiency with MS Office and database management Experience developing accurate statistical reports and analyzing data Skill in developing policy and procedures Knowledge of related University policies and procedures Familiarity with the PeopleSoft system is preferred This full-time Administrative Professional Officer position offers a 5 l4 ]/ g( Q6 D7 c9 q6 ~6 q6 @2 A3 y
