[电工杂谈] 健康的选举是424稳定发展的有效机制。

' N  A/ z, y7 E$ H6 Q最近看了Kevin选举团队里关于如何处理针对华人电工问题的一个提议,我感觉工会里的很多人还是很理智的,从而从侧面反映了健康的选举是424稳定发展的有效机制之一。 遗憾的是这些很好的建议在Kevin的信里面没有反映出来,不知是故意的还是无意的?

从这篇文章中也可以看出,华人电工和本地电工兄弟虽然在有些事情上有点摩擦,但我们总的目的是一致的,都是想建立一个更加健康的工会来保护大家的利益。只是,华人电工协会和IBEW的外延和内涵不同,导致看问题的角度有所差异。

' R- G7 l4 `7 k) d4 i5 OThe dominant nationality in China, so I understand, are the Han, just as the dominant nationality in Canada are the English Canadians.  Many people who think of themselves as Canadians are English Canadians culturally.  Examples in this discussion group are Erik Klyne (a Metis), Perry Speranza (Italian descent), Kurtis Frigon (probably Finnish?), even Lucien Lenoire (an internationalist of Quebecois, Scottish and German descent, but culturally an English Canadian).  The Unidentified Farting Objects like GTU and other defenders of the status quo in the IBEW are culturally English Canadians; like many of them think culture is the Unidentified Fried Objects growing in the back of their fridges.  Howsome-ever, the gov't of China, a nominally Communist Party gov't uses Stalin's methods against various national groupings in China as an example of how to "deal" with the national question.  So we have to use a differnet approach to the Chinese workers in our union, especially if we want to make positive changes in the local.  I wrote about the Chinese brother who TB, who is an astute politician, hired as an ABM.  Kevin has to make as part of his platform, that the Chinese Bro. be made a full time ABM, send stewards who are Chinese to various projects, and make sure fellow workers who are not proficient in English be enrolled in English classes at union expense.  This should get the support of the Chinese Electrical Workers.  AND we have to follow through on these tasks.  The local has to be educated as to why these measures are necessary to strengthen the local, and workers in general.  Local 424 should lead the Alberta labour movement, not tail the contractors.
