Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
$ _1 Z; z0 `" e! n% g( l1 [* BThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, 0 U- ~2 P' w( k# Z* B9 P/ o/ G# e
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
- d6 W" k6 {# V. u% m; FWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
7 R! `) ]0 f% s8 j6 }0 Hneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for 7 w' p' p* e6 k& X; N, \( L8 N& Y
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial 7 K: _+ @( F$ w$ x( |$ b' J6 I
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Key Accountability

within the city of Edmonton and New Canadian Health Network partners.

Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families. % O% R- q; i. I% w3 o
Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support 4 |, F5 J1 f) f# G3 O7 Y8 s! k
newcomers in settling and fully participating in community. ' v* y" ~/ k8 M, r8 X; w
Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental " K+ b% u" n$ a1 ~
case plan support for clients who have complex needs.

Qualification

Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
2 f8 c: N+ P8 S d$ R5 Vexperience in Social Work or related human service fields.
; i N% Y1 S$ }7 f' y3 e Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
; U1 S: j, u( A; F+ Tsupport needs : @9 E, [- X4 _
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications ! G$ C8 v$ A. d# A& h8 Y5 M
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages
( W0 E; r6 [# M/ M0 E- S3 m8 d Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate
