+ n' t+ f0 v9 LPosition: Child Care Worker / Location: Edmonton / Salary: commensurate with education & experience / Closing Date: July 30 2010 / Position Abstract: Bissell Centre is a nonprofit community resource centre providing support to people living in poverty within the vision of neighbours helping neighbours. You will be responsible for creating & developing an environment that meets the individual social, physical, intellectual and emotional needs of children aged infant to six years.

[; ?Some duties/responsibilities include: personal commitment to Bissell Centre Mission, Vision, Priorities & Values; ability to implement the “Learning Through Play” philosophy in day-to-day programming; ability to develop monthly program charts; daily & weekly activity charts; ability to take into consideration the children’s individual interests/developmental levels when developing program activities; ability to develop programs that enhance self-esteem & encourage children’s independence, social interaction & creativity; strong listening and verbal communication skills with the children, parents/caregivers and ECD staff.. . @1 i5 S& I" q7 G9 P9 J7 Q- TPLUS: ability to establish rapport and trust with the children & parents/caregivers; ability to adapt or modify a program to allow children with special needs to participate; knowledge of behavioural & developmental disabilities (for example: ADD, ADHD, FASD); knowledge of possible signs of abuse/neglect; knowledge of community resources pertaining to children’s health & education needs; knowledge of Daycare Licensing Standards, ITERS/ECKERS; ability & desire to speak with caregivers about parenting issues and share information about child development; ability to work well within a team.) ]+ o6 K8 g( H5 V X
, I$ r- D7 [+ S- v1 m2 GEducation/Experience: Level 3 Early Childhood Development Diploma from a CAFRA (Child and Family Resource Association) recognized College; familiarity working with children affected by behavioural and/or developmental delays; familiarity and experience with issues of poverty and the urban core.- y: w2 w+ ?/ s, e7 m2 `4 O* n
H! f- F2 o2 R7 Q5 b6 XSkills & Abilities: Behave ethically, build relationships, communicate effectively, focus on client needs, foster teamwork, make decisions, have organizational skills, be able to plan/solve problems.
