Take a project leadership role, as a Planner II in the Policy and Research Section of Community Services, by initiating and managing strategic information, policy and service projects with community partners, other departments, and other orders of government. You will be addressing a broad range of community service research and planning issues in a fast paced, results oriented environment. + }+ e# b7 H; \: U. D, c8 c
As part of the Policy Development team you will be:) A2 Z% C: o7 k, d% u0 H: p; ~
• Assisting the Department's Leadership Team in strategic policy making
" X* i q8 n2 c e• Coordinating and implementing City Council directed policy initiatives4 I$ F. t4 K& I/ N; c5 \9 P4 e
• Leading complex projects, at the department level, that are intended to transform services of four very distinct lines of business: Fire Services, Neighbourhood and Community Development Services, and Recreation Facility Services
0 B- R8 {: k, z- @& d• Developing position papers, carrying out specialized projects and analysis for the department and City of Edmonton, leading to recommendations for policy and program change0 W* A0 w& D+ ]1 J
• Preparing requests for proposals, and directing and supervising the work of hired consultants and or department project teams/ t0 I: v: M" ]
• Assessing the impact of policy and legislative changes of other orders of government on the City of Edmonton and citizens

• Candidates require a University degree in a related field such as business administration, planning, or policy studies. A Masters Degree would be considered an asset
# J' N8 R L L6 X7 _• A minimum of six (6) years of diverse experience that includes undertaking major research reports, policy development and the formulation of municipal strategies in the fields of community social planning, recreation, social service, and/or fire services/ T! x4 S6 D9 |5 L H
• Extensive experience in a supervisory/leadership, project manager role p# p1 y% w, K" z3 A' d% B
• Superior verbal, presentation and written communication skills
" q% v5 g* c& W* p% K• Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
7 M6 g9 L" e9 x# Z9 A# W2 I• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices involved in project management and public involvement processes
4 [$ D# Y, P7 p• Experience in a large corporate or government setting would be an asset.

Salary Range: 21M, Salary Grade: 032, $38.958- $49.714 (Hourly), $2,629.67- $3,355.70 (Bi-Weekly), $68,634.260- $87,583.640 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
