YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
. Y! e& j. s; ?# W1 B& k* mAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
: x( B& u1 o: y6 A  P: P/ n4 Jnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
" Y, Q! Z& n. s7 \1 ]: gThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
- ~1 B( Y1 ]5 A$ R  }; q! n6 xthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
. u  S( S$ N9 \participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
+ m5 Y- _& X0 p3 @4 H" U7 cAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment

6 P/ D* A, j! F/ R$ @. w8 s6 \) pVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
% W6 t' `7 ?* XYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
