& K* q: Y+ L/ q9 g: u3 `
7 b4 y3 N" h# O- R3 ?* H        1. I couldn't care less.
" r/ i2 t1 }5 n/ W3 A! \! `6 i! Z  g2 X: P# u
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
3 K6 Q7 b( q6 _2 S
1 d  m7 s% j+ u  人家如果问: What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) / _8 W: g* Q% m) }
. d0 [$ F+ H: Q9 z- z3 P& q; V
; A! n7 x1 b# ], b
; ?0 s. k/ B3 }! t$ e$ r  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
4 W7 E4 Y$ ^8 K4 `# N. M7 o
1 V. u0 D  A1 |. A' @  _; P7 V  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) ( C7 j% y- k" x: E1 v1 r
6 u6 }) O0 m( o" ?1 k

$ q% s2 L! {# e9 a  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)   A+ l2 n2 x# {5 {
: L+ a+ J2 Q1 |0 s5 o
Yes, you do(care). 7 u/ k5 G3 O$ k3 }2 F
2 @/ y8 g: ^+ Q
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
" J; e) \+ V" W# n
+ x) i; l( f8 |. @: _/ T1 q0 k  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) 8 Q+ M4 `3 J9 J. |5 g
8 Y: H) Q* R8 _
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴) 6 A( G9 _0 B% J4 ]# T; l. T' {: h- n9 X

0 ~9 g8 Z* g6 _  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. $ p, p7 l' Y6 W6 e

+ s, `: N* W& J4 }/ X: U2 d
6 B! {& h. K+ M& [9 N  I couldn't be more wrong. 4 j/ P7 ]! `: D. B! q$ K
! t( b- s& h4 h) [/ R
2 J+ r5 a& N1 \( o. |  s* s& f
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
2 I4 k! ]4 v8 n) ~3 [9 u  ]5 k* \( U
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) , U( M1 s! v+ o
$ M6 U6 D, U3 T$ D  U
  2. No bones about it. ) n* N4 ?/ o; X3 N

: T; r& Z$ t. y; ^* [" O6 @2 G6 u  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如: 7 g) H" m" h) k9 D/ e6 E

2 ?2 Q# O$ `4 Y( H* `2 Z/ B  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
- h" o. ]- F, B5 `; f% J, b2 D: u; a
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
9 \0 H6 s( B6 x9 B7 l& P6 K5 R
; i, Q6 e8 w' y% N/ U: {7 U( Y' @  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)
; C' R, o" P/ g4 n4 O$ ~  L+ F
  j0 ?$ U1 x' o& }0 b% @! [$ Q" X  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) - P) C7 f0 g" U" v& J; r. ?
& n, e+ e* Y4 Y. H1 V5 T$ H
  3. take it on me! ( ?) O! r2 g4 H" M: e
: K7 U3 [* W: }3 x0 G
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: ( ^9 j" r/ |/ P/ I

5 g7 K2 w, X% c6 S# `# p+ O  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) 6 E& u7 ~; m, }: e; K- {6 d" n* J

/ @7 p4 U: s5 {3 w' i9 M" s  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." (餐馆老板对我说:“尝尝我的甜点吧!”)
4 C$ U( ]  E9 K* ^7 J0 s
$ x/ Z  x0 o/ E% G* Q  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) (也许铅笔上刻有名字,做为宣传之用而免费。) & _: h+ e" e4 d0 Z
9 N8 u6 [  H7 r4 G1 X5 M. J
" D' C" [3 O1 N; d6 T1 `: n
( k  e! F3 f8 i) |, m; ]3 a" i  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) & {( J7 {: N3 C3 P7 ^7 ^. {
! w: n: X) c# a5 n' S
  4. I am from Missouri. 1 c5 w! T) C" u! @

; I- V% Q" D% V9 Q0 \% e: F7 Z  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 6 ~: l! G! F4 _9 Z; j0 k  r
. O- ~7 ^5 b: M( w* I4 U

  @: N# ^4 |. q& ]4 U  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
7 L: m8 u2 o+ U0 k( A9 |* n
2 g3 \5 e4 C: I; O  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.)
+ _; ~; x3 ]: J3 s! y6 p% y& L4 t7 T6 z4 g( c8 J. P" `% Z- i7 l
  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown. ' {2 j1 C* P( T* |
6 Z: d$ ]6 `+ {/ Y4 m4 K
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
