ACTION FOR HEALTHY COMMUNITIES (AHC) is recruiting students (preferably a member of a visible minority community, and/or of a Disability community) for three summer positions: A Community Initiatives Documenter, a Community Connector and a Volunteer Data Base Developer. The CI Documenter will contact and meet leaders of 30 Community Initiatives (mini-projects) to discuss and document their progress to date, facilitate a planning process for each CI to sustain their outcomes, and create a final document analyzing CI trends, strengths, learnings, and plans.

The role involves developing and applying strategies to raise awareness of local businesses to partner with community groups to improve the health and well being of the communities and connect/introduce a community group to a business, bridging, mediating and facilitating multi-cultural understanding. 4 ?/ x1 e! The role of the Volunteer Database Developer is to create an information bank using a computer base system, storing information already collected trough a community mapping in the inner city as well as organize community meetings in each one of 10 inner city neighbourhoods to introduce the database and encourage residents to phone our organization when ever they need.

1. Full-time college or university student, under 30 years of age before and after the position and not attending full-time classes while participating in their placement.+ l9 h. U j0 P5 |% V' c
2. Legally entitled to work according to relevant federal and provincial legislation and regulations8 C! ~" T$ n5 [4 z3 E
3. Good organizational and verbal and written communication skills.
