organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more

' q: r. t, h( C3 g7 M1 ?4 tPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
, Q% ~; {0 x, }non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
; O6 F9 I7 f# y- f4 l) }affairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
3 @+ \' m$ m8 g: b3 U+ e- ivision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
/ `, I7 S9 e4 r8 A1 S" ?& ~media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
. N9 J# u  B6 q; k1 r; J' Bto implement the organizational policies.

+ P2 n( b& q1 K0 s; [PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
" J2 p3 e$ r, c6 K/ \; _as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
9 x6 ~5 Y$ H- }' L5 Y/ _the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
6 \$ F: G/ m0 X3 T9 gthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
0 K6 p/ J4 o0 V' Y" ]payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
- d- ^- \/ e# B4 L7 I# r" p$ Mthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

! ~* O4 t& d' F9 ?' N6 ~. a1 [Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
( a* E1 X" V2 ~0 `/ Y9 ^* T. P/ Nincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
# C+ v9 w; H- B, L& n* H* borganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
/ L# D" t! e) p5 Q; q! Ywork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
