Summary:
% P/ t( O' ^& ?( j! Q1 SThe “New Immigrant and Refugee Youth Day Camp” program is a unique program offered in partnership with local Edmonton high schools.

Q5 q% Q9 |6 m! j* W% S( x; @New Immigrant and Refugee youth will take part in diverse activities such as visual and performing arts, field trips, career exploration, life skills, and outdoor wilderness activities, while also practicing their English language skills and earning up to 6 high school credits!

Major Responsibilities:

Each Camp Coordinator is responsible for one summer camp running in the month of July, 2008.

* u. W& ?4 n1 h+ u, @Each Camp Coordinator will work with 2 Camp Assistants, and report to the Project Coordinator.
% A3 {8 A; |* y) q: x4 A2 K$ D+ X- V

Key duties include: organizing a leadership workshop for Camp Assistants on “Learning to Lead a Camp”; assigning tasks to the Camp Assistants; recruiting and screening participants for the specific camp she/he is coordinating; facilitating an orientation session about the camp program for all youth enrolled in the camp; the day-to-day running of the camp, including coordinating and monitoring the necessary human and material resources, and coordinating camp activities such as workshops, meetings, wilderness and outdoor activities, and celebration of learning; assessing individual camp participants; camp evaluations; and final camp reporting and documentation.

S. { e# I+ i: K+ CThe successful candidate will have some post-secondary education, with a bachelor degree in social sciences preferred (a combination of education and experience will be considered); experience working with youth; experience/knowledge of issues facing immigrants and refugees; excellent organizational skills; excellent problem-solving abilities; strong communication and relationship-building skills; self-directed and flexible; ability/willingness to be a team player and work within a team environment. 9 _1 C* c!
