Position Title: Settlement Counsellor

Hours of Work: full time (35 hours per week)

+ v1 E/ s" V1 l" H5 F6 O1 `8 GPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Integrated Service Program funded by CIC, and AEI, the Settlement Counsellor will provide supportive counselling and guidance to clients on settlement issues, assess their needs and offer information, referral and advocacy services on behalf of the client.9 N+ s; S7 p% `. l

Qualifications; d+ ?& @% L+ |) M# l2 g' Y. t
• Diploma or degree in social sciences, social work or other human services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited institution.- q# g2 v0 @6 ^! X7 A) k
• Good oral and written Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and English skills. Being able to communicate effectively in Chinese to provide linguistically appropriate services to new immigrants; b: a2 Q- j+ w. N: I S' g
• Experience in counseling, newcomer settlement and/or community development work is an asset. Knowledge of the Immigration and Refugee protection Act and immigrant services sector in Edmonton8 n3 l2 E# S5 `, a g9 s8 p
