General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. tallied third-quarter losses totalling a combined $7.2 billion USFriday as Detroit’s automakers push for an emergency-loans fund from the U.S. government to help them survive amid the worst financial crisis in 70 years.

Reuters reported that South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Co. has had talks with Chrysler owner Cerberus Capital Management about a potential acquisition of the U.S. automaker’s Jeep brand and possibly other assets.
