但是,这个“不折腾”怎么翻呢?据说难坏了各路翻译精英们。

在网上收集了几种译法:供各位参考,希望起到抛砖引玉的作用:
5 j. u# p! n# ~8 a- A; F6 Z/ _& [# |$ q
1、don"t flip flop (别翻来倒去,朝三暮四)( ^. v& S# v8 p+ A( A- K

2、don"t get sidetracked (别走岔路)

3、don"t sway back and forth (别反复). v" K9 T1 {; C( ], i

7 b6 k4 M9 y+ }" b$ j) l
8 ? ]& ?0 U3 |* [( W" b$ s. C% R 上述译法,觉得都不够准确,不够精彩,没有把“折腾”的全部意思表达出来。这里推荐一个译法,感觉比较恰当:
7 U; @; R0 t* Y! C+ |; l9 X" ?& x1 Y- c# ?+ f% o
avoid self-inflicted setbacks (不折腾)* C+ Q3 U* w w2 f1 A5 {' x: `
/ d$ e! k; ^" Z' E0 {
原因是:
& C$ s+ g3 p4 m% ~1 Q7 g9 V6 {7 \0 R! y* [) E1 Y3 D$ t1 _
“self-inflicted” has the connotation of creating theunnecessarypain for one self.. s3 M1 B9 C3 ~+ |" |$ x m* v
, Y, G) S& a% X' @ 折腾 in Hu"s speech has a strong connotation that such kindofsetback is self-seeking instead of being due to theinterferencefrom outside.! m; \" l ]# Q8 o2 x3 O
) k. h. S* q- Y. }
“Setback” is a much better word than “trouble”, whichanunseasoned translator would like to use in the firstinstance.“Setback” especially refers to the obstacle ordifficultyencountered in achieving a strategic goal. |
