Position: Group & Individual Counsellor, Opportunity Plus / Terms: part-time contract position, 17.5 hrs/wk. until June 30, 2012 / Salary: negotiable & based on experience / Closing Date: 07.30.09.

: Q5 P0 c* k6 gContext: The Opportunity Plus Program provides women who have left an abusive relationship with up to (12) months of full time programming to learn skills/access supports to succeed in employment or education & to become self- sufficient. This position provides counselling in both group/individual sessions for women who are receiving services in the Opportunities Plus Program.

V5 [( E0 NThe Work: Counselling services are to enhance the modules taught in the program and provide support towards the clients being able to build self-esteem, learn problem solving skills, and identify solutions. The therapist will work in collaboration with the Opportunity Plus Team and participate in regular client review meetings.

All services will be offered in-house during the time that the clients are participating in modules/individualized needs and services & the therapist will assist in identifying group/individualized counselling supports when the client has completed the program. The counselor will also assist in determining the duration of interventions to clients in the program.

, x; z( S1 e" q3 v; DEducation: Masters in social work or psychology. Experience: minimum of (3) years experience working with women who have been impacted by domestic abuse. Experience in working with the cycle of abuse, awareness of domestic family violence, community resources and ability to assist women with building community and personal support networks.
