Position Abstract: The Career Practitioner provides individual assessment, needs determination career counseling, and workshop facilitation services. Working from a holistic perspective, the CP will be responsible for completing the service needs determination with clients during an initial assessment interview, and for providing information about basic settlement and career development issues. To make effective referrals, the CP must possess broad knowledge about career and job search issues, as well as knowledge about services/resources available within EMCN, Mill Woods, Edmonton and Alberta.

' r. f5 F4 E. k# f' h4 M# X* t( r(A) Knowledge, Information Management, Assessment & Career Planning - Assist clients in the Job Centres as required; Facilitating Job Search workshops on as needed basis. (B) Career Counselling: Maintain on-going contact with each client/monitor progress in close cooperation with Employer Liaison, coordinate ongoing support for client at work and during Workplace Training or Internship, as needed; Troubleshoot when needed, and when possible proactively address possible problems, conflicts at work.

LDesired skills, education/experience: candidate must be fluent in Punjabi (knowledge of other South Asian languages would an asset); Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Career Counseling; Extensive knowledge of the Alberta workplace, including in depth understanding of occupational technical competencies gained through experience or training. t9 q6 b4 M! X- P- b* uPLUS: Demonstrated cultural sensitivity/strong commitment to providing quality services to newcomers; Membership with the Career Development Association of Alberta (CCDP designation will be required within 12 months); Strong English communications skills; Experience/facility with MS Office applications; Proficiency in both official languages is an asset; Some evening or weekend work may be required.
