Position: Composting Programs Coordinator, Job # 4262, Union CSU 52 / Classification Title: Recreation Technician III / Terms: Permanent Full-time / Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program. Occasional evenings and weekends are required / Salary Range: 21M / Salary Grade: 013, $21.796 - $27.353 (Hourly), $1,471.23 - $1,846.33 (Bi-Weekly), $38,399.10 - $48,189.15 (Annually) / Closing Date: 12.17.09.

Description: as the Composting Programs Coordinator, you will be developing education and social marketing initiatives designed to increase public knowledge and participation in composting and other waste management practices.

: |# \: F/ F' S* F" d& I; L/ U* L8 jYou will: develop/implement school, public/media presentations; develop and coordinate special events; provide administrative and logistical support for the Master Composter/Recycler volunteer program; supervise volunteers/summer staff; manage the compost education sites, supervise compost centre activities and coordinate advertising of programs and services; implement social marketing initiatives; represent the community relations section for the Branch's Environmental Management System, providing overall input and review, educational program development, and internal audit responsibilities; other duties as required.

, W3 `/ H* e3 P3 w- g# @Job Requirements: A degree/diploma in Environmental Studies, Recreation, Education or a related discipline; Minimum one (1) year experience in environmental education, program planning, composting and supervision; demonstrated knowledge and ability to develop and present environmental education workshops; proficiency in composting knowledge/practice; some gardening knowledge and experience is an asset; superior interpersonal/presentation skills are required to teach and engage people of all ages and backgrounds, from grade 4 children to seniors.

PLUS: ability to facilitate a positive team environment for volunteers with a variety of backgrounds; ability to work as part of a team; self-directed, flexible/able to plan & organize projects; ability to work outdoors & lift up to 22 kg; experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint/Access; ability to learn volunteer dBase program/volunteer impact; Class 5 Driver's License or operators licensing equivalent recognized by the Operator Licensing and Vehicle Control Regulation, Alta. Reg. 320/2002; Current Standard First Aid/CPR.
