This position is ideal for a recent graduated PhD who wishes do a Post Doctoral research focusing on studies surrounding molecular epidemiology and cancer risk under the supervision of Dr. Marty Slattery. Recent studies have included the collection of biologic samples and the analysis of molecular mechanisms involved in cancer etiology and survival. Numerous opportunities exist for the successful candidate to contribute to on-going and planned research studies. This opportunity draws together several areas of expertise – epidemiology, genetics, population science, quantitative methods, and bench science – to contribute to understanding the combined effects of genetic and environmental factors on cancer.7 D: H; _# P N* c

# y( b9 t2 L1 WTime will be devoted to original analyses and manuscripts evaluating how genetic variation affects breast and colorectal cancer risk using single SNP and haplotype associations and a pathway-based approach, and how genetic risk factors are modified by environmental factors (e.g., diet). Additional analyses will focus on the survival and specific tumor markers. Emphasis will be placed on leading original analyses and manuscripts; career development; and transition toward independent funding and an independent research career. The successful candidate will be supported in their applications for external fellowship awards. The position will provide a minimum stip end of $45,000, as well as benefits and a professional development allowance of $1200 and a travel allowance of $2450.
