this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA # s2 j/ M1 ~9 [6 }& ~" f& ~9 y
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Responsibilities 9 u+ `* V6 E$ w2 @9 ~/ M- g

9 h0 z8 R$ y4 V" L8 h* ~- eReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
2 Y: w9 |$ `4 m1 t  `9 m$ D% vexecution of the YWCA Strategy
7 |  P( G/ w1 k: z' g0 g. m( T  N , e& U7 X, R( J8 J$ N' ^. v1 w
Specific responsibilities include:  
0 R5 E( i& C2 ?+ q) {1 P
$ [, e: S9 [" e, H# C" j; x0 Z•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of " F$ d' K3 k* ?9 w; i, k
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
5 A, |' k5 O. k* e8 R; athe Board of Directors;  
7 v8 H5 d( w! u6 A& \9 W! t7 ^9 ]•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
9 z9 n: S% H- I& ]2 p. cincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
; F* g( U" `, E! L% y2 xenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ( \2 B. o0 M6 _
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
# l# r* ?" X; p  G& X( Xobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by & Y3 ^( J' F7 f) \4 Z+ @
the board;  , x( c5 Q$ y$ l* C2 E
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  ' |, b, |9 A9 b# N4 y. S
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ) s- \  S( f: D$ P3 @! x
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
, \& H; @* f- i& ?; W% G•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
. _& d; a" q" W* R' A. p. Lchanging needs of the organization and community;
1 m" D- B/ ~4 X% {3 c* v' |  Q5 ?" `•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 8 N0 v2 X3 o# h: \& o
commitments;
- P( X1 Y) {' F7 @•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  7 ?9 v' Z1 \& N3 r: J
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
' x- \( A5 Y- P7 P, C/ t' oselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  & R7 g1 ]& S$ H, h
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; $ S& U# m4 m  r8 `( \; C+ ^4 ?! D# U
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
* R! v% }% R: R) ?effectively and positively represent the association;
  j, w( x" n+ N8 b- K6 [& G0 B; n1 P/ ^! i8 w; C3 L
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
" a" K4 ]3 ^4 l* e* qthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  0 U- }  Q0 |8 m( V# \
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal $ A( b! Y5 }9 I+ _0 y
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
% F3 p1 s' [" U* x! R" Q4 Ythe forthcoming year;  6 _* A7 S" `! X' K+ B4 M
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical , K  R1 h0 ~8 L- g8 _% P
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
7 d* [% f4 L# a1 C1 yYWCA Canada; and
5 [# K+ @: @4 o1 H; e7 Z: B" j•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ! s: q9 m* s- I  t0 H

•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations; 2 K4 Z  a- Y. E7 n
•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 5 T5 T, ], O) n7 q: X" Z8 S; P
around decisions, plans and actions; # |2 F0 a6 }& X8 o/ J) f: X9 E
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; " V* a, B* O% H+ V1 L2 H1 h
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable - g# ?6 A" _' E5 b2 _! k2 ?
and achievable with realistic timeframes; $ `' h8 D. f6 C! h
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks . z1 K9 t3 Y+ @$ j
simultaneously; , }$ a) [5 G4 S8 E4 a4 O4 l
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
3 C! ~! I. c: I8 h0 K* ]0 H1 arapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
' J. P; q( {% U& C7 s7 A/ n•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and

/ z6 n. H4 w: X- O; ~ Required Professional Designation / Certification
7 h6 C0 Y# H9 B$ O•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience 2 |& R* C- M2 X/ m1 Q" H* q
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 8 v9 {0 c3 ?# L5 Q
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
$ J9 m  m5 M. v$ K& R$ B1 X: @% Eabilities; 5 G/ k/ Y! v, G- A
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
% X# h0 O% R1 i" \4 Z8 U4 _Networking and Fundraising; 0 C# l1 {; u, m4 ^
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting # Y# P/ _$ F+ F4 C) i) w/ }
and financial statements; and 6 t7 }* z. x: Q  W5 p0 P+ H
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women # i# _: {/ ^4 k
