Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or 4 N4 [8 c9 Q" M% p* L' k6 U
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to s* E; l3 a% O8 e8 {! W- T
provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

/ L! x; Y! s1 s+ p: Z0 E! Z3 L Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
( b# L3 K% L* t5 j( CThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, * m* x. y7 s0 D/ {' F( w
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social " d" a$ p% ^# e* B# z* S3 B4 b- ]
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as " {" l' y2 M ~0 m, h
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for - r7 ~. ^+ B% k- q! \" ^
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial - k7 F& C& f/ ]7 ^
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-! k+ K# p T! U# p8 v# W! K
centered delivery model.

Qualification ; y4 T: t- ~, W2 H& |4 p% ?

Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
1 l5 e3 z' a# X! e% B3 |1 G* Wexperience in Social Work or related human service fields.
$ e7 K- a; {& {! q8 Z Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
7 A6 D) @; q- J1 G- p, _support needs 6 e& @ o) N' y/ Z
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
: w S! V9 i5 U5 @8 U M6 d Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages : ]+ f7 ]- B2 |. C* g* O
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate , T" p" n( p0 C+ [5 x
