As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
$ O1 l, t1 V# W9 G* M: A• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
3 E$ }. V- Y) \! D$ [+ W• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
) B0 K) @2 V( a/ ?7 b' fBi /Reporting/ETL
1 L& D" V2 l5 o+ E0 g• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
7 d: _( W$ C# n" z2 x8 F6 C• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
  \2 j8 W* F. `8 ]4 k* k' n% {6 K• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
& Z( n4 ?% q; j, t3 J& V0 _• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
. R4 K. Y7 N: K) v3 V; q* {• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
, j/ t$ g3 w8 u. I2 [/ N: f• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
0 T1 I8 b* b! B- A# w. ?2 d7 v• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
; C$ j1 ]; v" f) \8 E• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
