Position: Project Coordinator, Peace Ambassadors Program / Terms: Full-time / Start Date: August 15th 2010 / Location: Edmonton / Salary: $40,462 - $56,410 per year (full benefit and pension package) / Hours: 35 hours per week, some weekends & evenings / Closing Date: July 19, 2010.% h( o% P% e2 w( o
) o" v: F4 N) ^$ qEssential Qualifications: excellent knowledge of the issue of racism in Canadian society; experience facilitating educational sessions using participatory techniques; demonstrated leadership abilities with youth; experience with project coordination; degree or diploma in human services field. Preferred: knowledge of immigrant or Aboriginal culture and/or language; experience with functioning of non-profit society.. B! O# i% r; f3 s
' G, {' f) ^3 b; D8 p# cUnder the direction of the Program Manager you will:9 i7 H/ m% d2 n) ~
3 n: D4 I; M1 nRecruit Volunteers – facilitate on-going recruitment of volunteers to participate in the core group of PA; this is done by inviting members of groups who are being presented to, making contact with other youth groups, and by print media, broadcast media, and e-mail invitations.

2 Q/ T( \/ J( ~Training – facilitate weekly meetings of core group volunteers. Training in participatory techniques, presentation techniques, and knowledge of race-related issues.( W- ]# {5 t! B6 ?5 B" g$ P' Y7 y

Organize Presentations – advertise presentations through distribution of brochures and posters and by contacting interested groups and schools by phone, email, and mail; take requests for presentations, set up dates, and ensure adequate volunteers are present to facilitate discussion.* F' ~- e' P0 i& z2 w
6 y# h5 \ T u: u" ~" V7 XNetworking – attend meetings relevant to organizational mandate; create/maintain relationships with community groups, individuals, institutions that are interested in race relations.

Professional Development – be informed on current issues on race relations and other areas relevant to the position./ P/ Y4 f: o: K6 a
! T8 o+ U5 \4 H w$ ^6 W" _" K6 ]Proposal Creation – with program manager, create proposals to all funders of this project. Ensure criteria for each funder is met in each proposal. Also with program manager, create a logic model for each project with activities; short, medium, and long term outcomes; and indicators. 0 b# o! O: G4 ~
