Restructuring & Government Efficiency , Edmonton - The Government of Alberta has a strategic goal to share common Information Technology infrastructure and services across all ministries. Through the Restructuring and Government Efficiency (RGE) ministry, an infrastructure has been established for the provision of government-wide computer services such as email, file, print, applications and web services. Currently, we are recruiting new team members for our Applications Support group within the RGE Service Desk, located at the Infrastructure Building in Edmonton.

As an Analyst in this unit you will have the responsibility of providing technical support for both in-house developed applications as well as off-the-shelf purchased software. Working independently and as a team member, reporting to the unit lead, you will initially provide support for two web based cross-government applications (ASAS and APC). Members of the Applications Support team will eventually be expected to provide first and second level support to a wide range of applications across multiple development platforms. Other areas of responsibility include support for desktop computers, laptops, and networks. Utilizing your well-developed problem solving skills and effective communication skills, you will assist end users via phone and remote control software for I.T. related problems. % _% s1 d) {4 t4 Y+ N! p9 D: q* D5 uAs our service is 24 x 7, you must be able and willing to work shifts. Shifts will generally be 12 hours in length and consist of approximately 8 days and 6 nights per month. There will be some 8.25 hour day shifts scheduled for cross-training and backup purposes.

* p: |# v+ ?% s/ L- SQualifications: University graduation in computer science or completion of a recognized computer related diploma/certificate program with 2 years related experience.

Requirements crucial to your success in this role include: , T" f% j* L& s( {! N( s3 }
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with the Microsoft suite of applications % p% M- l; W ~) W% k1 r8 {' p
- Troubleshooting experience with Windows 2000 8 y! q& }2 E8 J/ _9 m S
- Some troubleshooting experience with Windows XP 6 b* z/ ]3 |8 C( B/ k5 i
- Experience troubleshooting web-based application programs (SharePoint and Red Dot experience would be an advantage) ( Z" ?$ f& Z) T/ g
- Strong client service orientation and a commitment to providing prompt responsive service to address immediate customer needs
