Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

. o( q) p: B9 l' ] Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
: I9 {" V. j0 Z% H% v7 r% V Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
! y5 d1 f% B; O Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
 Completing required paperwork.
4 S  y" r+ t3 I) s9 }' o+ l' ^' { Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
/ \* `- r" L! |: c3 C* o; P1 Z Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
9 _' P( `1 k5 o+ y/ m1 {5 a, I Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
$ {  A# s9 G/ O, @; g9 ` Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

Qualifications:

 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
. W: w3 D+ S$ T! P* ^ Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
+ \/ I, v- d3 @' p* ]% P Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
8 S2 j1 u7 K4 {3 o, h* H% }( f Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
0 C$ Q  a  ~: ]' |0 C, l- j! v Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

* a" g! N& v' oPosition:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
5 S# f9 s9 c$ J6 M2 ^" B$ Jstarting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
