T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip
i9 e2 X1 U0 @: u4 W- `Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering 9 ]& k2 w1 z$ `. u C2 V5 H
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on 7 T F6 z6 V! }! o
interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development, 3 M* R3 {' t" U% X) M
and Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.

What will take place in the sessions?
`* O0 p9 N6 a+ A S1 dEach session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.

These activities will enable youth to:

 Develop self-confidence and problem solving skills

* f5 i$ K* L) B! H9 y! Z7 }; vRegular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
_5 U' C/ w* H$ cSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
" \3 D/ ~& E6 W 2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily$ W' [. f" f# W1 u+ Q1 S# t- S

Who can participate?3 A; q& C! m, L$ { N. @
Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
$ A. t9 L& \4 X+ k$ M. nIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.( V `7 G" s9 |5 n

Volunteer’s Duties:' L0 ]; O, n8 \) F' U
6 i" [- o- B1 T' S+ s3 |2 [, Z2 H Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies ]" Q. G& }6 I4 K8 G3 Y& c
 Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development + k% F+ P* D- n8 H1 e- U
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities: C1 K3 e- h' C
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
, h" S' {7 ^- ~6 A( D1 e Research activities related to the sessions’ topic$ [% I# X; `$ U
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips

 Be a role model

 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
|, v/ x& u5 F7 V0 K% E7 r: z One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer

 A team player
