YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
9 O, j5 U/ T: A$ H3 QAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
0 S' Q0 P, B+ ~. ppeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
$ T$ }5 J& K; _! tThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
; e/ T) Z8 w$ a2 A$ q- P5 gThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
% {% @: ^1 K& T% g0 cparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
& x6 M* S/ W7 g5 Cpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
) g! E! ~3 E/ g$ P8 `: sAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
: @8 _" r, D; n4 E7 d+ |' qfollow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
