满大街到处都能见到挂着Oilers旗子的车,让我这个对体育一向没兴趣,迄今为止只看过一次非正式的Hockey比赛的人也无法无视这个让加拿大人疯狂的运动的热潮。

Canada has two anthems, two languages and two versions of its history. There is an assumption that Canada has only two seasons as well: Winter and Not Winter. But it isn't true.

In defiance of both Einstein and the space-time continuum, hockey in Canada now lasts sixteen months a year. Both the tax season and summer have been swaped by hockey -- and that's just regular hockey. The playoffs stretch things out even further. Glasiers move faster than the standard NHL season. There are teams with sideburns and disco hairdos still circling the ice trying to finish off the 1974 season. So if you are going to be a Canadian, you will have to get used to this. Hockey is the Muzak of Canadian society. It's always there, in the background, like radiation or white noise. "Da da da da DA DAA......"
