Weatherford International is world forth largest oil and gas service company.
It is looking for field engineers for Medicine Hat district.
The job title is open hole wireline logging field engineer.
You will need a bachelor degree in engineering or geology. Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical engineers are preferred.
Working experience is not necessary but it will be preferred.
A permanent residence will be preferred. I will give it a try if you are an international student and you are qualified in other area.
You will need to work out of Medicine Hat District.
You will be hired as field engineer trainee. The salary is about 46000 per year. You will be required to work in the field for 3-5 months depending on availability of school. Then you will be send to Fort Worth Texas for 3 months of engineering school. If you pass the school you will go back to Medicine Hat to work for 2 -3 months. Afterward you are required to do your breakout presentation(theoretically you will not get time off during this period, but you can ask for days off, in most case you will get it). After breakout you will be considered a junior field engineer. You will be required to run your own logging unit and crew. You will be working 2 weeks on and 1 week off. You salary is 42,000 per year plus your job bonus of 3.8 percent, which is where you make most your money. A Junior Field Engineer makes about 90,000 to 12,000 per year on average.
The career progression is very good, after few years you can do your senior engineer breakout, if you are successful, you will get a increase in both salary and job bonus.
Weatherford provides constant training through out your career. Also, being a international company, there are plenty of opportunities for other positions (Fishing, drilling, well design, artificial lift, etc etc) and locations ( Europe,Australia, South American, Asia, China, ).
