Responsibilities and Tasks

2 [' X6 i! P7 b4 Q# I. m- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
# J% z, B* t, S g- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
, D# O) k A' ^5 w0 {! B, L5 V7 {- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines: E) Q& N1 r: z$ U6 w
- Select type and size of pipe required
: E; C8 U9 A) c0 T* S$ l; n- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
& ]7 ~- X+ J, _# o7 D: e* U- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
/ K9 t$ i4 z: _/ | {$ N- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems/ _$ a% a# S% {3 g9 _+ \) y. C* [
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment

- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system- N' q! H8 d. v* j2 D* h! ^. C# p
- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program9 e: p8 [; e( C' O
- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business; ~, O/ S4 b9 ?* ~, B7 e0 w

Required Qualifications( a& g& A% J5 ~5 ~- j
* S5 Z7 f" |* O- A. r1 Y' V- Completion of secondary school) J( Q" k$ Z+ a6 k, g& i. t; j$ x
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation , r4 t: W% e/ \% d; t
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
8 V v+ T2 D( _* A+ O- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
* m- c" c3 d0 _( L3 B- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
