中国同学遇见老外,想知道人家的姓是怎么拼的,经常脱口而出:5 g; K9 k2 P( P7 l6 {' m5 U( Z
2 r/ u" c7 p: [How to spell your last name?; }9 u! x: D: l l1 G) r
4 Z2 a/ p( y" ^" C其实这种错误不光是中国同学特有的。亚非拉的同学很多都这么说。从语法的角度说,how to spell your last name ... ; P1 |; G9 x) {
, K4 x& c, v+ O! Z
"how to..." is a phrase. Therefore it can't be used as a sentence like " How do you...; Since it is a phrase, it can be used as TITLE--you can use a word, a phrase or a sentence as a title. Same reason "how to..." can also be used as part of a sentence: " I am not sure how to spell your first name."
$ P. A$ D$ j! z0 {

1 r8 Z0 C; Z- m5 n"No problem" is short form for " I have no problem..." "There is no problem ..." so when used in answering something, it is simply expressed as "No problem". |
