Q+ E% K$ t: ?0 p% sAs part of the City of Edmonton’s Newcomer Internship Program, we are seeking 3 highly motivated internationally trained Project Engineers with work experience directly related to the field of transportation engineering.

5 N1 c& O6 f D2 PThe Transportation Department offers a challenging opportunity for an enthusiastic engineer to administer, coordinate, and undertake transportation infrastructure projects. Working with a team of technologists and consultants, specific responsibilities include;" v8 a8 Q' {- Z8 X3 \0 b5 P- Q

• Designing transportation infrastructure projects including roadways, interchanges, walkways, and bridge rehabilitation.$ p6 E3 b0 u0 G* D1 h7 u
• Coordinating the design of multi-disciplinary roadway projects with various stakeholders including other City Departments, environmental agencies, utility owners, design consultants, and other outside organizations.
) T. c7 r# T$ `6 h- a• Administering land acquisition, railway crossing improvements, and pipeline related issues.
+ O# W/ y" _# R8 J• Reviewing and approving engineering drawings

• Generating accurate cost estimates for a variety of transportation projects4 @+ k1 V( _, j8 G
• Organizing and attending public meetings regarding transportation projects, Q% D6 e" ]% O+ e. i; ]

JOB REQUIREMENTS:0 Z+ ]5 @# ^9 l7 C( ~$ v, ~) a- O
• International Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with coursework in transportation engineering or geometric design' r/ n: [0 n% [8 k/ ?3 @
• Minimum of 4 years progressively responsible engineering experience
% q, n0 w6 w* Q; w* A• Working towards APEGGA licensure0 Q; @+ V" c$ O2 e0 ^% r/ ]
• Effective interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment overall score of 7)- Y9 p2 d- R' L* ?! y
• Proven project management, presentation, and negotiation skills
2 o2 f" L, | t- n2 p. o% w: f, e• Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
! a4 w, V8 T' y- k3 P: ^9 F• Knowledge of CADD including Microstation is an asset
