ACTION FOR HEALTHY COMMUNITIES (AHC) is recruiting students (preferably members of a visible minority community and/or of a Disability community) for the following summer position: Community Connector. We are a non-profit community development organization operating in central Edmonton. We promote community inclusion as a strategy for increasing citizenship participation and action.

Length: A maximum of 15 weeks

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Community Connector
3 T9 N0 X6 ]0 e) \; [  J. D* N. Z' YThe Community Connector will link our organization and its program participants to local resource providers and businesses under the motto “Healthy Communities are good for business.” The role involves developing and applying strategies to raise awareness of local businesses to partner with community groups to improve the health and well being or the communities and connect/introduce a community group to a business, bridging, mediating and facilitating multi-cultural understanding.

% z) }! q- d6 X+ WEducation Background: Business or Social Sciences

Qualifications:
1.        Full-time college or university student, under 30 years of age before and after the position and not attending full-time classes while participating in their placement.
9 ]7 v9 d6 x- F  V' q  n2.        Legally entitled to work according to relevant federal and provincial legislation and regulations.
3.        Good organizational and verbal and written communication skills.
4.        Team player and also able to work independently. Able to deal proactively with change and achieve goals through coordination with other people.
