the Students' Union and oversees all electoral logistics as per Bylaw  
9 O% f* I+ h, O2000.  The Chief Returning Officer shall be recommended to Students'  
  z. u$ c1 p# eCouncil in the manner set out in the Council Administration Committee  : B; ^9 w, y. k: x& d
Standing Orders by April 15 and serve from May 1 to April 30 of the  
5 m7 C! e' ]/ N, Oyear following their appointment.

) x2 ?0 C4 z6 A7 C+ I. `DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) To run the elections as per Bylaws 2000
( {( W6 L5 c* _/ A. }; e$ C* V+ m4 M, n/ Z& [. T- X
2) To run referenda/plebiscites as per Bylaw 2000./ [$ Z# r- O. Z) _

3) To choose the Deputy Returning Officer(s) and assign their duties.; K5 f- W, Q# E" M

* f8 n) }! {2 i3 K% g4) To organize polls during elections/referenda, including appointing  * ?; {2 u9 G0 s
adequate poll staff and situating polls at appropriate locations  4 E$ z4 {4 T$ U5 r0 C; t: b  R, n
across campus, and advertising the poll locations., q: q  M1 w! v/ \
/ l# o* `9 K$ o1 \3 ]- c
5) To oversee the physical count of the ballots during elections/
! Q/ q" c7 r3 \# c( l( ureferenda.

5 s' e: {, U+ [7 o" f6) To report the result of an election/referendum to the appropriate  ) T" S( N2 N( y
parties.  M& u% F  `& W; W) e

7) To facilitate classroom speaking arrangements during an election/
7 c( d& o- u% _4 ~1 p, o% yreferendum.

To enforce budgetary regulations as stipulated in the Elections  
: X8 x0 s/ _2 a- uBylaw 2000.

10) To be available to all parties during elections/referenda for a    h# ]( F  v2 w( Z6 X; U
minimum of four (4) working hours a day, between Monday to Friday,  
& Z0 V5 p& P5 i/ t6 n0 l" ]from the first working day after nominations close until the last day  
  c, M1 E; ?, Z& Y, h& iof voting.  These hours are to be posted in advance.8 L/ n  b( _4 s5 N( r2 j
; T* C: C3 k3 @: z+ i- h
11) To act as the arbitrator in any dispute which may arise during  
4 L' T1 T0 i; h& D' [2 O2 ?the course of an election/referendum.+ H9 D' J; w4 A- V& D- M2 B+ t

" E5 J! _6 ~, U7 \0 w2 x) ?/ t* C12) To ensure that a cost effective and accurate ballot counting  
- x8 ^% _4 T9 @  d5 k/ r1 Uprocess is in place.

13) To submit to Students' Council, prior to April 30, a final report  
0 U% _. s4 c  yof activities and recommendations.

# O. \% h8 J7 P+ r14) To organize a minimum of one (1) forum to be held during the week  
# k; G& J1 J6 b7 \% V: Kof campaigning.

15) Perform other job related duties as required by the Council  1 g% [5 ?( T5 H4 s6 B

QUALIFICATIONS:3 p6 h8 L0 v" C0 s" {. J3 X. k

, q3 n1 I! y. {7 U8 L1) Must be an undergrad student registered in at least one (1) course  
% |( U( k. u, j1 Q) C- A  Pfor each of the terms of Winter Session and shall be a full Students'  
8 |9 P5 S5 O2 jUnion member.7 I& n/ g/ u, _5 ^$ _7 a" y

2) Must have some experience in student elections.
3 F' z; H5 C# Z7 L3 U: z6 ^, ]. _8 M# x; g  Z, l: Q
3) Shall not concurrently hold a position on Students' Council, or  ( e/ y( v9 n' ~6 J& |0 l# \8 {- u
any of its standing boards, committees, or any other paid position  6 N+ {/ o2 v& U7 U" C
with the Students' Union.

4) Willingness and ability to work varying hours.) `" ~7 e* D% G, S" {* D0 s

5) Excellent project management skills are required.: l, T- R. F1 Z& c" o0 B

5) Ability to deal effectively with Students' Union and University
