医生有什么活路没有?

这年头中国的医生可说是倒霉蛋(别骂我,听多了,我从没拿过红包.)
VISA拿到了,准备过来做LABOUR了,可也不甘心啊.读书做护士? 做实验室? 做....
还有啥活路没有啊? 路人救命!

If you are still younger, don't worry.
But If you are already over 40 years old, think about your parents and siblings; if you can stay in China, don't come, it's not worth it. Then if your family doesn't need you, and you want to come, just come, you will have different life what you never get in China.

做医生的来这里找到专业相关工作会很难，又是因为语言障碍都很难跟没有受过高等教育的菲律宾人去竞争。但是如果专业英语很好的话路子要广些。有空多看看www.capitalhealth.ca.里边有些招工信息。

I am 34 years old, with 2 years working experience service for International SOS(an international medical service firm), and 2 years for an American oil company -Phillips on one drill plateform.my english is little bit better than Philippines.I think. but professional english is so so.

my target position is paramedic or any medicine related work.sth like RN,RPN, or Lab work.

any other way to get me out of this? I really do appreciate your recommendation.

your age is ok to purse the doctor in Canada. There is one way you can be a doctor assistant or family doctor, or you can be specialist some years later. I remeber there is on www.capitalhealth.ca, you can check. good luck!

It depends on which medical school you grad, if in western world then you have better chance to shorten waiting time, if just in China then start almost over again to go through medical school courses (some courses can be credited from your previous medical school). you won't practice your medicine untill you passed all required examinations which will take you anywhere from 5-10 years or even longer. for RN you may still need to finish at least two year courses in college or 4 years in university. Good pay but first few years job will be tough in terms of shift schedule and wards arrangement. for paramedics, special courses for sure plus you should be physically fit (height and weight to certain level).

学注册护士，可以搜索一叶之秋的帖子，在UA读四年。就我本身的感觉和一叶之秋的经历而言，这并不是很好选择，倒夜班，很辛苦，责任很大，你要应付各种难缠的病人，要能听懂各种口音，而且在夹在医生的其他护士之间受夹板气。
医学实验室技师，是不错的选择，毕业工作不愁，很稳定。可以在UA读四年本科，也可以在NAIT读2年专科，如果你在国内就是实验室技师，可以通过认证以后，读NAIT一年的加速专科，毕业考LICENSE，拿到证后，有大把工作等着。但是入学申请很难，托福成绩现在多少不知道了，原来要550，口语TSE原来是45分，现在要50分，每年大概是200－300人中取25个左右，视实习位置而定。毕业后就算你拿到证，找到工作，如果你口语听力不行，医院会不放心你自己单独值夜班的，因为急诊时，很多时候要口头汇报化验结果，你要保证你能100%听懂医嘱，还要医生，护士100%听懂你的话，毕竟人命关天，弄不明白的次数多了，很可能就被LAY OFF了。
如果你喜欢统计，可以转学生物统计，流行病学，去申请UA的公共医学，对语言要求相对不高，毕业后的工作都是在政府部门，工资比不上石油行业，但福利较好，工作稳定。
当然因为你年轻，英语好，最好的出路是考医生执照，听朋友说，有人复习一年多就通过2次考试了，可以申请实习机会，现在MATCH的机会也很多，去边远一点的小镇实习也可以的。
总之，我很理解和同情国内医生现在的境遇，走出来，未见起是不对，几年奋斗之后，是终生的平静和安逸，何乐而不为？

谢谢大家的热情帮助,深为感动.说句实话,我并不是一块读书的好料,况且,这些年在国内做医生的经历,多少让我有些厌倦.护士,急救员的工作我也能够接受.(奋斗不是不好,但我更想经历生活.如果读书的话何必出来,国内大把的MBA,拿到以后还是很好骗骗人的),只是不知道paramedic的就业前景如何?身体有什么要求? 我身高1.75M,体重68KG,不知道是否太轻?--倒是一直坚持健身.出去做LABOUR嘛,锻炼身体养活家人,想法比较简单.呵呵,工作,孩子接受好些的教育,得到更文明的成长环境.养家存钱,世界旅游.也算没有白活一遭.不知道我是否太天真呢.-------人生就在于折腾.

时间最快、工资相对最高的是药剂师,pharmacist，新手也可拿到$40/hr。参考Bredin Institute网站，暂时好像打不开，楼主自己google吧。

药剂师，当时我没申请上，托福机考253太低，GAP要3.5以上，我是3.48，医生背景没有帮助，要有生化背景，而且要学4年，太久了。

忘记了扣税.这税怎么扣?

护士如何? 护士工资好象没那么高哈? 药剂师也有两年的吧? 急救员很难找工吗?

托福在这边考是电脑上考试，253分相当于国内607－610分，药剂系录取线就是250分，所以她说我成绩不够好，可是我又不想重考，就放弃了。GAP是大学的平均成绩，国内的百分制到这边要转换成4分制，具体管招生的人，他们有公式计算，我也不清楚是怎么算的。
RN毕业大概27/HR左右。6W块的收入大概要交30－40%的税，具体不清楚，请挣那么多钱的大侠，明示。

如果从国内移民过来的，还去学本科4年，不能不说是条弯路，毕竟都不年轻了。如果去Bredin Institue参加Pharmacist考试的课程，用不了很长时间，大概是8个月，具体信息要去和他们核实，我当时是参加工程师班，在隔壁教室。参加这个program也要有生化背景，是政府赞助的，不用学费，没有收入还能拿funding。也是有语言的要求，所以学好英语才是最紧要的。

If you have got secondary education in Medicine back in China, have good English speaking skill, willing to get back to your profession and challenge the licensure for doctors in Canada, I would recommend you to go to Bredin Institute Centre for Skilled and Internationally Trained Professionals.
Every monday morning there will be an orientation at 10:30am. Call them ahead and sign up for the orientation. It's better if you could also bring your original documents that show your status in Canada (PR card/citizenship card), educational background (certificate, transcript), SIN card, language test result (if you have taken any) and resume (optional). If you are accepted after the document assessment, there will be trained staff to assist with your licensure preparation and job search.

To tell from most of the new immigrants in canada who was a successful professional doctor in china,Neither they can pursue medical profession nor they can get involve with medical related postion. everything should restart from zero. I dont know why,I guess there should only be one reason, the licensure for doctors in Canada is a hard nuts to crack. Whatever, I will have a try, and meantime I will start seeking another profession towards oil field ,Auto, or medical related. Maybe Health and safety jobs is more easyier for us? I am thirst for your voice.

Do not be panic by the words you heard from.  I am 100% sure your clinical background will not be ground to zero here, you MD degree will be accepted here and fully credit.  That is true that most of Chinese MDs changed their career direction by different reasons after they came canada, however I also saw some of them came back to be a doctor in Canada after a couple of years efforts only with their MD background in China.

English the the most important issue so that you can pass the board examination, another big issue is the residency position limitation for the new doctors.

I haven't heard a Chinese MD becoming a pharmacist in Canada but I know more than one Chinese MD becoming a doctor and the lowest starting salary is 150K and the  highest one is 300K.

Becoming a dentist is another choice for a chinese MD, but you have to apply and finish the dental school and pass the exam.

There are many nursing programs in US just cost you 12-16month (if you have a medicine background), and you can come back to and work in Canada to get your Citizenship, then you are free to go US. Not bad. 7-8 W is normal for a RN, what do you expect, man? So many American are fllushing into this area, it's hot now. You can expect in 5 years there is a huge nurse shortage here.
