First of all, church is not a charitable organization, not in my opinion anyways. It’s a religious organiztion. If a Christian pays less tax because of his donation to church, that would mean the rest of us would have to pay more tax to cover the short fall due to his tax-deductible donation to church. Yet we, the non-Christians does not benefit from the church at all.

For example, let assume the country have only you and me. The government need to get $1000 income tax. Assume we have the same annual income. Theoretically, we need to pay $500 each. However, you donated some to church and claimed some tax credit from it. That means you’ll pay less tax. Let’s say you pay only $300. That means I’ll have to pay $700.
