想在爱城找一份石化操作工的工作可行吗？

各位好：

我是新移民，今年国庆短登温哥华，大致了解了一下加拿大。目前准备明年4-5月长登爱城。

我的情况如下，本科和研究生都学的化工，毕业后一直干的也是化工专业。

2000在中石化的一个子公司干，乙烯装置，从操作工干起，在倒班岗位上干了三年，参加过乙烯装置的改扩建和开车，可以说是拿着扳子和PID图就可以干活，呵呵。

现在在一家国际大石化公司作工艺工程师，参加一个新装置的建设，目前处于基础设计阶段，是丁二烯装置。

向我这样在爱城能找到一个石化厂的操作工干吗？是否要参加什么职业培训班？

为了生活本人不怕倒班。

好像dow在这边有个乙烯厂.

我干个操作工就行了，听说操作工工资比工程师还高，因为要倒班。呵呵，是否需要参加本地的培训班吗？

好像操作工要有证书，你条件不错，可以试试考工程师。

no, you need power engineer llicence for process operator job in petro-chemical plant, generally, process operator in field need 3rd ticket, operator in panel need 2nd ticket. basic salary for process operator in upgrader or refinery is from 80,000 to 130,000, if you work in fort mcmurray, your annual income plus OT, bonus and allowrance should be 200,000 to 300,000.

in here, senior process operator salary is higher than process engineer in refinery

alberta only has two ethylene plant, one plant in the red deer produces ethylene, another one in fort saskatchewan produce polyethylene. all of them belong to DOW chemcials. another option is that try to get job in upgrader and refinery near edmonton or fort mcmurray, now alberta has 4 refineries ( shell refinery, imperial oil refinery, petro-canada refinery and husky refinery), 5 major upgraders (suncor, syncrude, opti, CNRL, shell), other 10 more upgraders will be built in the next 10 years.if you hope to work in refinery or upgrader as process operator (not entry level), you must have 3rd power engnieer ticket (2nd class will be definite asset), chemical engineering education background or working experience (hydrocracking, vacuum tower, coking will be definite asset).

anyway you may try to get job in refinery for entry level operator or apply process engineer. then you can make decision which job you do prefer to. good luck!

In refinery, process engineer salary is from 100,000-150,000, but no OT for engineer, that why engineer income is lower than operator. good luck!

这种工作进去了都是一干就一辈子,除了退休把空缺让出来了.不过一有空缺也会先让内部推荐的给顶上了.
等看看几个新厂几年以后建好了也许机会会多点

two key requirements are needed for petro-chemcal process operator, if you are immigrant.

1. working experience: you should at least have 5 years experience in petro-chemcal plant, including commissioning and start-up experience. most companies hope your experience cover distillation, vaccum, hydro-treating or hydro-cracking, coking and sulfur.

2. communication skill: you need have strong comminicaton ability, specific technical communication skill.

now all refineries and upgraders are eagerly hungry to look for process operators, if you have good experience and chemcial engineering background, some company can give you one year training time for your power engineer 4th exam.

支持heysheep的观点。我就是搞加氢及加氢裂化、焦化的，炼油厂或石化厂操作员的工作挺难找，一是要证，二是要语言。工程师的工作不要证，但是对语言的要求也挺高。目标很明确，努力吧！

hi,heysheep, I donot understand some word, for example; what's power engineer licence, 是指的工程师证吗，是否就是当地工程师协会的证？

what's 3rd ticket and what's 2nd ticket, how to get it?

to most new immigrant, communication skill maybe the most difficult skill to reach the requirment because not only oral, listen but the different way of understand is impossible task.
