Engineering Positions at the Diavik Diamond Mines in the NWT.
Praetorian Construction Management is a Project Management firm specializing in Construction Management for the Mining Industry in Western Canada. We are seeking full time Civil and Mechanical Engineers, Field Engineers, Commissioning Engineers/Specialists and Construction Superintendents for our projects currently underway at the Diavik Diamond mines in the NWT. The project is camp based with a two week in and two weeks off site schedule.

Underground infrastructure including electrical, pump stations, conveyance and work shops.

! j$ X: s1 O) m; EThe specific duties for Field Engineers both Civil and Mechanical/electrical:
Management of technical Queries between the construction contractors and the Design Engineers
. K+ a8 z# N# F, d; _Participation with the development of Site Technical Specifications with the Design Engineers
Quantity Progress monitoring of the contractors and reporting
Progress billing monitoring and audits of contractors
Construction schedule updates with a reporting roll up to the client’s master project schedule.
Participation in the management of the Site Safety Systems
Directing of Vendor representatives during the installations of equipment
Manage the development of construction deficiency lists prior to commissioning

The assembly of vendor manuals and the creation of mine operating manuals utilizing the design engineering offices resources

& ?* {" v- x+ s, t9 T. xThe creation of Commissioning Procedures, plans and schedules
Ensure site safety standards continue to be consistently applied during the transition from construction to commissioning.
/ V; s! G# K1 z1 j9 ~6 w6 l" Y, WCoordination between construction and the mine operating groups
The management of the transition from Construction to that of an operating facility including the verification of system completion and construction deficiency completions.
Directing commissioning crews assembled from construction, operations and the design engineering house resources.

Reliability / Maintenance  Engineers & Specialists
) M" V. c% k  j0 `The assembly of vendor manuals and the creation of mine operating manuals utilizing the design engineering offices resources
- n) G: z& _* e2 K" ZThe organization and participation the creation of equipment maintenance systems and operations.
The creation of equipment maintenance standards, policies, procedures, schedules and processes.
) D4 s: j: W# D. s- HEnsure site safety standards continue to be consistently applied during the transition from construction to operations.
Coordination between construction and the mine operating groups
The management of the transition from Construction to that of an operating facility including the verification of system completion and construction deficiency completions.

Underground Construction Superintendents
. f) y: C6 v* v& [, AResponsible to oversee all construction activities in the mine underground operations
Coordinate mine access and equipment utilization between construction and mine development forces.

Manage field engineer resources in the monitoring of progress and reporting
Participate in the management of underground equipment utilization
Monitor the contractor’s quality assurance and control activities
Participate in the transition between construction, commissioning and turnover to mine operations at the completion of construction.  
Create Deficiency lists between development turn over to construction and construction to commissioning/turnover.

Civil Construction Superintendents
Similar to the Underground Construction Superintendent, the Civil Construction Superintendent is responsible to oversee all construction activities in the mine surface civil operations

, t, Y" T3 u: H6 ~The company provides you flights between Edmonton and the mine, and food and accommodation in the mine. You work 2 weeks and take 2 weeks off. So virtually you only work less than 6 month a year. Depending on your qualifications, your income is about 60,000 to 100,000 a year plus benefit and 8%-12% bonus. You can buy up to 3 carats diamond per year when you work at the mine at discount price (about 1/3 of retail price). Please go to www.diavik.com for more info about the mine.
