* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis: J( Q0 r9 I8 C8 X: C* x
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography1 w( n0 d- |7 l# ] @+ |, e
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques0 b* {& \' A9 }0 B* o& ^2 u( X* {0 Z
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client+ U5 C2 |3 d3 B+ x5 j/ ^- L
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry, q) F8 C, U( k) i9 P
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals

* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices% E! Z' t1 X$ _" G
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)6 E( j( v# p: m$ {7 v* k6 A2 ?

Qualifications
" J" _! T# \* ~+ T0 ?* E
7 u- V$ z8 q" j* F- c, g0 _+ C * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred, v6 Q( |/ ?6 _# q. |2 F& Y3 y
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
! ^/ u6 ]- m: |$ {8 l0 C * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
$ ^; p4 S! i1 g5 ?0 s * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures( l+ j6 n$ O4 W9 b% K" D# b0 a
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
