Edmonton John Howard Society (EJHS) is a community based not for profit crime prevention agency that has been operating in Edmonton since 1949. Our mission is “through our programs and services we work to prevent crime and to help people affected by crime”. Our vision is “safety and harmony in our community”. EJHS began operating the Family Violence Prevention Centre in 1999. This is a Partnership Project with The Multicultural Women & Seniors Services Association. 4 ^8 _$ K9 x2 |" o h2 P$ p9 DOutreach workers provide ongoing support, advocacy, linking clients with resources and supporting through court processes if required to victims of Family Violence in the South Asian Community. ' P$ r9 |8 i; _' E; |3 e2 Z

Qualifications/Skills0 w+ c6 z( v5 J+ `% ^
• Bachelor of Social Work degree RSW preferable or related degree and experience considered
! C4 I' L" L3 @ e K• Thorough understanding of Family Violence dynamics and barriers T0 U) }5 V8 z' L; d
• Previous direct front line experience in the area of Family Violence preferred7 E7 G4 B6 x. ]! N; K8 | D
• Previous experience working from a case management approach, s$ M! h& z1 a8 f p/ h# T* N9 _6 O8 p6 K
• Experienced in risk assessment and safety planning
$ v7 t% X! C8 \0 @• Fluent in English, Urdu ,Punjabi, Bengali and Hindi
3 [4 A) }$ l, A! v. w4 W6 _; c" g• Thorough knowledge of the South Asian culture required
1 D4 ^2 M" J9 u5 a3 z• Knowledge of housing and financial resources, immigration, legal and child and family services an asset

• Criminal record check and child welfare record check required/ C) w, D% B" F
• Valid First Aid

Responsibilities/Tasks
* P- d4 Q' X/ |# V5 ~5 |& W• Conduct initial intake interviews, risk assessment, safety planning and needs assessments
G$ I7 B h) A: U9 f: p* U& c• Provide ongoing intervention to assist those impacted by Family Violence to over come barriers to living free from violence
+ _' q; Q2 y# d• Provide ongoing support, advocacy and facilitating access to resources
3 R( d+ f) f' T+ F& Z" l5 O2 ~• Address ongoing needs as identified by client# E% E( z) `( {! t& G+ j& c- R
• Documentation and working within program evaluation requirements
( Z; z/ c M4 P/ p- U+ ?9 K• Provide Family Violence Education and Presentations
$ n. l! B7 u8 z: p3 ]9 _• Assist clients who are required to go through the court process& `8 m+ e$ x% r: K
• Liaise with community referral sources
