; z# Z  m9 M+ _Duties

    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
& j" ^; Z* p8 W& K* N    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses

; w- g$ O2 X; n$ x2 ~    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
8 x3 q9 B2 r6 z" V2 Y/ e) f    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
+ [. @: }* t2 B8 y: ?8 P5 h    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
/ f! ]1 h$ d5 w) K# \9 G    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
$ i  m! z0 W* C4 B    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
% D9 N4 x6 c2 f4 U2 y/ ]7 Z    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community

( C$ U: n  z- Y1 W* c2 b/ U! u    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills

$ H: F) v* I$ I# G2 d0 A/ ~0 K    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
