Position: Parent Educator, Parents as Teachers Program / Length of Contract: Permanent Part-Time / Hours: 20.0 - 22.5 hours per week / Start Date: ASAP / Salary Range: $15.00 to $17.00 per hour / Benefits: Health & Welfare Trust Fund, WCB coverage, mileage / Probation Period: 3 months / Closing Date: 04.22.09, or until suitable candidate is found.

Mill Woods Family Resource Centre (MWFRC) offers the Parents as Teachers program to families with children from birth to three years of age who live in Mill Woods. Recognizing that parents are their child's first and most influential teacher, a Parent Educator personalizes monthly home visits to support child development and positive parenting through play and education.4 h1 O% n$ U4 |. y: K% L0 v
( P% Y H( y) z" [! | oDesired education, experience & skills: a minimum of a 2 year diploma in a related human services field; 3 years direct experience working with families and children, including those who are marginalized and/or culturally diverse; solid knowledge of child development and family dynamics; familiar with community resources to facilitate appropriate referrals; team player.
