Duties

* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications0 i$ V0 Q9 U" [: I5 |4 ~
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis6 m, M8 i1 @6 m- @- E/ `, |7 g
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
/ A9 Q; J9 c) C% m" C* \, J * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students - W& X4 s. F, R' V9 H8 k( E
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies

* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment. ?% I* ~! P4 K& v, j

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
