Position: Multicultural Volunteer Coordinator / Terms: full-time, 35 hrs. week at $16-$20 per hour. / Location: Northeast Edmonton / Closing Date: 07.10.09 or until suitable candidate is found.

The CANDORA Society, a community-based organization in N.E. Edmonton that works together with residents to effect positive change in their lives and their community, has an excellent employment opportunity for a Multicultural Volunteer Coordinator. v, ^) I# }; S) N5 y
2 N- s4 f& a/ G$ m2 _5 y' xContext: This is a 35 hour/week position which involves recruiting, interviewing and building relationships with new and existing volunteers in addition to providing volunteer orientation, training and support. You will also be required to present, report and evaluate on the Candora Volunteer Program to funders, agencies and staff. Hours of work are flexible but a typical work week would be from 8:45 - 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. d& c; Q7 p% ]! s. }/ W+ T3 D
) {' @7 L @0 nThe ideal candidate: we are looking for a person with a sensitivity to and understanding of the issues of low income, newcomer and immigrant families. In addition the applicant must have excellent administration, relationship building, communication, team building, multi-tasking/time management skills. . y3 Z- p9 Q3 C$ d( k$ N3 B1 ?5 f

He/she will work under the direction of the Executive Director and Program Manager to: ensure a strong volunteer recruitment and retention program for volunteers; ensure all volunteers feel supported, respected and valued through the development/implementation of supportive communication with other staff & volunteers; prior experience in Volunteer Management, experience in using MS Office software + working in a confidential & professional setting is required.
