2 L* M/ ]- o' x4 t$ DDescription: The Intake Worker provides emergency support for individuals & families. This assistance will include advocacy, referrals, support in assisting families and individuals with meeting their emergency and basic needs and referring them on to other appropriate internal and external resources. This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of the services and supports that are available in the Edmonton community, equally important is to research and update referrals to keep abreast of changes in services or new initiatives.

Education & Experience: Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Social Work or equivalent; experience working with families in an extended support/advocacy role; Alberta Class 5 Driver's License + satisfactory drivers abstract; knowledge of poverty, homelessness and Edmonton's urban core required. Training: CPR; Standard First Aid; Suicide Prevention; Conflict into Calm.

Skills & Abilities: Strong written/verbal communication skills; effective assessment skills & ability to work from a strength-based perspective; ability to establish rapport/trust with program participants; strong ability to advocate; strong problem solving skills & ability to flexibly manage multiple tasks.
