Duties! F. V6 c, @6 w: [8 F
% j. _9 c1 t! k9 i" W * Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory0 R. m6 Z2 l9 N" ]3 |: _
* Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr" R" y6 O0 @5 t' _1 |! {% e$ L
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps
& ]! R1 I1 {( l! c * Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations7 v# b0 V3 a/ V2 r" g, P
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations

8 ?1 C* x* E: [( V8 W. a * Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred
) b8 y; {" {( f: @: z( ~ * Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation
7 a1 R& i6 r3 C' Y8 h * Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers7 |6 ]' s! g$ o t: w1 ^
* WHMIS training/ k& N: A0 @3 p% M3 c
* Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset
