Responsibilities + j' N% Q6 z y% @" ?9 t% Q5 N
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
$ e* i5 q! B& B" z1 `1 Q! gPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
" x2 U- K, s) k4 [2 M; y2 u7 o$ a9 B2 gAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. $ ^$ e- v D) m/ z7 I! |: _
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
! l; T' n, A- ]" Z0 iMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 7 U3 E; ]/ a% U/ F
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. . k( R! t4 G; x% c& R- S
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. ; C% k2 A$ i; L0 ~" H
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
4 A/ o' R/ T: f% w- v' u6 V( qDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
; N& z/ P" X% dAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. / w9 Z: ]# ]$ ?; n! M: x# y$ }/ a
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
6 O0 [) p5 s+ R! O% E) n1 N& JEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
7 j1 e2 h! _, i% \Qualifications
- t2 s+ U" i6 I: kA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. W5 E0 F* I. c$ W1 y" F2 i
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. - t9 r- O- S/ _2 _5 F1 y9 x, B8 [! o
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
5 j- L+ H% k6 t- w- }$ q/ aPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. - c% G4 z1 ^ j5 i4 T
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. + Y" ]" }+ `/ [5 v
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. : K M( U" I0 J" r0 x
