As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

$ \* e3 E- L- f9 j- d3 e) b• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
! m; }6 U( T! |+ p/ W- T• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
1 R. c5 s) b" J% I6 H8 D1 }+ M• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
! Z; J- A7 [# o. X  r• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
" a9 p  o7 j' `3 v0 z• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
* Q  ~( p2 d  u& T7 B9 h# Y! Y) X• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
+ S1 T: Z; O, y* E& W9 e$ m• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
+ |. }: I1 ]  W; O2 M• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
: L9 ^- W+ v+ l- T6 o• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
, ]) c  ]5 X8 a7 }' ]% I1 I2 K• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
/ w$ B* E. X* |6 {6 K• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
- j4 s! `4 v# d/ B- V% Y# q( ~0 l• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
