Qualifying For An Electrician Job
: C2 N3 ~4 S: a6 |When researching the jobs that electricians do, one may find that the very first thing that a person must do to qualify to become an electrician is to first pass a skills test about math and science. Then the person must become an apprentice to learn the trade. The qualification required to take the skills test is a GED or high school diploma. One will be an apprentice for between three and five years before having gained enough knowledge to be able to move on. Even then, most go on to take more specialized classes in telephone lines, computer lines or other areas of specialization. After they have completed the apprenticeship and taken any additional classes if they want to specialize, one must become certified. Certifications for electricians include general electrician, residential electrician, fire-life-safety inspection technician, voice-data-video technician, or non-residential lighting technician. Each certification requires a specific number of on the job training hours as well as passing a test to receive certification.

Being able to identify the different colors of wiring is very important to avoid fires and electrical shock. Maintenance electricians work on machinery while residential electricians will generally be installing wiring in a home. Some electricians are required to work at night while others must travel long distances to reach their work. However, compensation for this job is around $24 an hour for a fully trained electrician. The job field is growing every day. More things run on electricity today, therefore more electricians are needed to keep everything functioning. Specialized trades such as computer wiring and telephone wiring are becoming more and more popular as technology expands. Jobs for electricians are expected to be added each year to the job market as the need for electricians grows. Even as more and more factories are becoming automated with robots, electricians are required to repair the robots when an issue arises. One may start out as an apprentice and learn to be a master electrician in a very short period of time. |
